Halotracker.com

Posted by RippinHeads on December 28, 2011

Well its been about a month and a half since HaloCharts.com shut down and I think the dust is finally starting to settle… Several new Halo sites have popped up since HC closed its doors but to be honest only 1 of them really tickles my fancy as far as a community and Halo stats site. Halotracker.com is primarily a Reach site but it does have some Halo 3 stats as you can see here on my Player Page.

I would say that 90% of the staff and original members of Halotracker use to be HaloCharts members at one time, its nice to see that they are able to build on what Firestream started 4 years ago and continue pushing on into the future of the Halo series. Xorth is the owner and operator on Halotracker.com and even though he doesnt want to add any more Halo 3 stats I’ll still put him in this blog because he’s a nice guy. lol

I’ve also noticed that the Halo 3 competition on Halotracker is really active which makes me happy since I’m always trying to keep that ranked statistical #1 on the Halo 3 Leaderboard. Looks like I need to start playing more if i want to keep that spot too! To be honest I’ve just been playing social all month in the 7 on the 7th playlist, for some reason I decided I wanted to be #1 on that Leaderboard too after I started playing it. lol… 777 exp. ftw! My next 7′s goal is to pickup 7777 exp. in Lone Wolves which is going to take quite some time… especially with all the cheaters. “/

Last but not least I have started streaming over on Twitch.tv, if you would like to watch some of my gameplay please feel free to stop by and follow me and say hi while you’re there! Here is the link if you want to check it out http://www.twitch.tv/rippinheads. I mananged to get Justin TV to release my username, luckily since I have this site and I am well know in the Halo community they let me have it even though someone else had already signed up with it. Sadly I will not be streaming ranked gameplay because there are tons of kids just itching to match me and hit me offline/cheat me, I like to call them e-thugs. I tried streaming Lone Wolves for 1 night, biggest mistake I’ve made in a while! haha

That’s it for now guys, hopefully I’ll see some of you legit players in Lone Wolves soon, there were 2000 players searching in Lone Wolves last night which is awesome since the game is over 4 years old! Take care everyone… BIG EMBLEM IS BIG vvvvv :o

Thanks for everything Firestream!

Posted by RippinHeads on November 18, 2011

As most of you now know- HaloCharts.com has officially shutdown as of today. I would like to personally thank Firestream for everything he has done for the Halo Community and myself over the last 4 years. Its been one heck of a ride and I hate to say that its come to an end… but it has. I was lucky enough to meet David aka Firestream in Washington DC for a Nationals game last year(pre-Reach) and I must say that he’s probably one of the most down to earth Christian guys that I’ve ever met. He’s truely one of a kind and he has made quite an impression on me over the years. It was kinda surreal meeting each other at the time because he was the owner of the most amazing Halo Stats website on the Planet and I just happened to be statistically the #1 Halo 3 player in the world on his website. Needless to say it was awesome to meet the man behind HaloCharts and share some stories face to face. I’ll never forget that. *sigh*

With HaloCharts shutting down I am getting a ton of these questions… “Tom, what are you going to do now that HaloCharts is gone?” Well to be honest with you all I still plan on playing LW’s and Rumble Pit in Halo 3. As much as I loved the Challenge of staying #1 on the Halo 3 Leaderboards its NOT the only reason I play the game. I plan on getting my online H3 service record to show 7777 ranked games before I call it quits and I would like to try and get to 20,000 exp before Halo 4 hits but I’m not sure that will ever happen. lol, I still have quite a few friends who play H3 so who knows!

RippinHeads.com celebrates 3 years and HaloCharts.com lays to rest after 4. I’ve just renewed the rippinheads.com domain for another year so lets see how things go leading up to Halo 4 and if all goes well hopefully I will be able to say “The Legend Continues…”

In the mean time if you are still wanting to track my Halo 3 stats feel free to stop by HaloTracker.com and check out my page there. Its not nearly as extensive as my HaloCharts page was but I have managed to snag the #1 over there as well. hehe… I’m trying to talk xorth into coding some more Halo 2/Halo 3 stats but I think he’s going to have his hands full for quite a while with the influx of HaloCharters plus Halo CEA and H4 around the corner. Well that’s it for now gang, I hope all is well and noone decided to take a butter knife to themselves with the announcement of HaloCharts closing down. DERP!

So again… shoutout to Firestream! Good luck in all you do and I hope you and your family enjoy the Holidays! Talk to you soon bro! Thanks for mentioning me in the “Special Thanks” section of your Goodbye HaloCharts post.

Love and Respect…

Happy 3rd Birthday RippinHeads.com!

Posted by RippinHeads on November 17, 2011

In celebration of RippinHeads.com’s 3rd Birthday I’ve been working with HC Redemption on a pretty amazing and somewhat insane Lone Wolves Challenge for the Halo Community, we hope you like it! HC Redemption has put a lot of time into this Challenge so be sure to give him some props next time you see him!

HC Redemption-

“Ten total objectives in all; four tier-type objectives and six bonus objectives that will certainly take a healthy dose of skill, strategy and perhaps luck.

The challenge is to be played in Halo 3′s Lone Wolf playlist of Matchmaking; however, the tiered objective sets are clearly a tip of the cap to franchise stewards, 343i.

If you think you’re a Lone Wolf, this challenge should get you pumped and provide several new goals to chase after… Load up Halo 3 MM, jump into the Lone Wolves playlist and start rippin’ some heads!”

Click RIGHT HERE to get to this Challenge over on HaloChallenges.com. You will need to submit all of your games there if you want to receive the awards on your HaloChallenges & HaloCharts Player Pages. Also while you are there click on “Challenges” at the top of the site and check out some of the other Halo 3, ODST and Halo:Reach Challenges.

Again, hats off to HC Redemption for all the time and effort that he put into this Challenge! Feel free to leave comments here as you work your way through this Challenge.

Happy Birthday RippinHeads.com! :)

I’ve recently been working with HC Redemption over @ HaloChallenges.com on a Community Challenge and we’ve been using Twitter likes its going on of style. haha

With that said I’ve added a Twitter Follow button over on the sidebar just above my Avatar, so if you’re not following already, you should be! You can click on the birdy below if you’re too lazy to make it to the sidebar. :P  Also keep your eyes out for the New Community Challenge that  I mentioned, it is coming your way very soon! w0ot! vvvv silly bird is silly. lol

Reach TU Thoughts…

Posted by RippinHeads on October 10, 2011

Hey all! So I did in fact create a 1 month account and play a few games in the Reach Title Update playlist, I figured I would give it one last chance before writing it off completely. Let me first thank 343i for at least trying to make Reach more like the Halo’s we have come to love over the years. It sucks that it’s taken a year to start making these adjustments but I guess better late than never? It’s amazing how myself and others were getting harrassed a year ago for complaining about Reach and now that 343i is changing it to be more like what we suggested a lot of people are loving it. lol, it makes me want to say I told you so but I won’t do that. :P

The Zero Bloom DMR definitely gives the game more of a Halo 2/3 feeling and at the same time widens the skill gap so that the skilled FPS players stand out once again, and by skilled I mean precision aiming and accuracy. IMO the 15% bloom feels the most like the Halo 2 BR so it will be very interesting to see which one they end up keeping in the final TU. The Magnum is now one of the most powerful / deadly weapons in the game and as much as I loved the Halo CE Magnum I’m not sure if this is a good thing yet for online matchmaking. I find that kids like to sit back now with invisibility and use the Magnum like a sniper similar to the way we use to on Halo CE. lol

Anyway, I have enjoyed several games in the TU playlists and at some point I may start playing Reach on RippinHeads but I haven’t decided yet. I really hope when they drop the full TU that they try to incorporate the zero or 15% bloom into the entire game, all playlists although I dont think everyone would be happy about that. If these adjustments end up confined to the Arena, MLG or a TU only playlist then I don’t see a reason for me to continue playing Reach, but that’s just my opinion. It would also be nice to see jump height and run speed increased to 120% and the sprint dropped, I know Bungie was trying hard to “Reach” out to the GoW and CoD players but I think at this point 343i should get back to the smooth Halo mechanics that most of us Halo fanatics live for. These are just my thoughts so don’t hate. haha

With that said I am sure most of you have probably played the TU playlist by now and you have come up with your own opinions. So, what do you think and what other adjustments would YOU like to see incorporated into the full TU before it’s released? Here is the current list of changes in the update…

Make damage bleed to health through shields possible.
Make reticle bloom configurable.
Modify Armor Lock:
• Sticky grenade will not be nullified if you use Armor Lock after being stuck.
• Damage received while in Armor Lock is transferred to remaining Armor Ability energy.
• How much the damage depletes your Armor Lock energy is configurable.
Modify Active Camo:
• Reduce the bonus time the player gets in Active Camo while standing still.
• Reduce the overall length of time the player can be in Active Camo.
Remove Sword block:
• Disable the ability to block Sword attacks using melee with anything other than another Sword.

I found this cool little pic over @ Elders.TV…

Third Time’s a Charm!

Posted by RippinHeads on October 3, 2011

As most of you know I have been forced to recreate my RippinHeads account 3 times now… sadly. I have logged more than 15,000 Lone Wolves games between all of my accounts and I must say that my newest/current RH account is superior in more ways than 1. In addition to reclaiming my #1 in Halo 3 on HaloCharts.com I have also reclaimed my #1 for having the most Lone Wolves Exp on a single account. Yes I’m a little insane. tee hee

Amazingly despite all the cheaters and 2nd accounts in LW’s I have managed to maintain a 2.20 k/d with an avg. of 19.35 kpg in the playlist as well as an overall 2.25 Ranked k/d. w0ot! I have also managed to take over the #1 spot on a ton of the top Ranked medal Leaderboards along the way… Perfection, Killing Frenzy, Running Riot and Rampage. A few others to note would be Ranked Sword Spree, Slice n Dice, Oddball Kills.

Anyway, I think at this point when I hit 7777 Ranked games played I might take some time off and play social with some friends, if you are on my list and you want to run some Rumble Pit I am looking to increase the population in that playlist again like the last time I went for my Rumble Pit 5 Star. ha-ha… I know there are a ton of new games out or coming out like BF3, GOW  and FIFA but I have faith that we can keep H3 alive for a few more months, maybe even until Halo 4 drops next Christmas.

With that said I have been hearing A LOT of talk about the Reach TU which will include a no bloom playlist. I watched Strongside play some FFA Customs the other night with no bloom and it actually looked like it might very well widen the skill gap a little bit. If only they could increase jump height and run speed 125% while dropping sprint we would be in good shape. A # ranking system and exp would be nice but I know we can’t have our cake and eat it too. I’m sure by the time H4 hits they will have figured it all out. We can only hope!

As much as I am missing my H3 Living Dead if for nothing less I may actually borrow Reach and tinker around with it a little bit. I have even dropped a few lines to 343i about releasing a Lone Wolves like Reach FFA playlist which would include all weapons and a small percentage of objectives but I have not heard anything back at this point. I figure if they are going to start adding new playlists and making changes across the board, adding a LWs Reach playlist would be a great way to attract some of the Halo FFA fanatics who have yet to find something in Reach that they can enjoy. Derp!

Well I got a lot of stuff on my plate today so I better run… If you are a legit Lone Wolves player start searching so we can get some games in before I take my Ranked break. I really love this “FlaminHeads” screenshot and since I have been on fire for the last few months I think it fits well right HERE :P  Feel free to share your thoughts on the blog. Yum Yum!

100 Ranked Perfections!

Posted by RippinHeads on August 9, 2011

I honestly didn’t think I would ever be posting this blog! I have never made it to 100 Ranked Perfections on any of my previous RippinHeads accounts so this is a HUGE achievo, plus I am currently #1 in the world for Ranked Perfections in Halo 3!
I get messages pretty much everyday asking “How in the world do you get Perfections at 50 high Lone Wolves?!” lol, lets just say its NOT easy, it takes tons of patience and extreme talent when it comes to map control. Some call it camping but I can assure you that you don’t get Untouchable Perfections by camping… if you camp the entire game you get at most 10-15 kills and if you are lucky  you might snag 3rd place. In order to get an Untouchable Perfection you must get 25 kills and when you are doing that against skill level 40-50 you are doing work, not just camping. haha

Anyway, I just thought I would throw this up here for you guys to check out… if you are looking to start doing damage like this yourself then you should check out my FFA Tips below, they really do help! Feel free to hit me up with questions on the Q&A page. Take Care! Yum Yum!

FFA Tips!

Posted by RippinHeads on August 1, 2011

What’s up boys n girls?! I have been getting tons of messages on Live asking about my FFA Tips. I don’t think I have ever posted my FFA Tips as a blog so here you go! Feel free to comment…

FFA (Free For All) Tips… Lone Wolves/Rumble Pit

Tip One
Everyone knows this point, yet I’m still amazed how much people don’t follow it, DON’T GET MAD, it effects your game greatly. Just because you missed your melee or someone did something stupid don’t get upset over it, because it effects your game more than you think it does. Just take a deep breath in and out and remind yourself its FFA, stuff like this is bound to happen.

Tip Two
Never give up, this sort of relates to the first point, because when people are getting unlucky, they tend to get mad and end up RUSHING like crazy and just dieing consistently and going 1 for 1, which isn’t good. FFA is part luck, my most recent example is I’ve been down by 16 kills from 1st, and I was in last, yet I was still able to place second because i didn’t change the way i was playing, I didn’t start rushing in fury, I just breathed in and out reminded myself that it was just bad luck and that I would get over it. I continued playing normal until my good luck started to kick in which happened when I went on a rampage which is very rare when playing with other good players. Don’t get upset if you’re in last because you can still place top 4. Trust me, I have done a hundred times.

Tip Three
People tell you to play with players that are better than you; this is partly true and partly not. Playing with people that have better individual skill helps your individual skill, but you also adapt to their playing style which also helps, but being accustomed by the way they play is not that smart. A good FFA player isn’t always the person with the greatest individual skill of the group, it’s the person who can adapt to the playing styles of different players the quickest and still be able to place top 4 consistently with different players.

If you want to become a better FFA player you can’t play with the same people over and over, you should play people at all skill levels at FFA, not to get you better individually, but to see all the different types of playing styles.

I’m sure one time or another you’ve heard someone say “BLAH I can’t play with this room of bad kids who don’t know who they’re doing!” when in reality that person is just adapted to the playing styles of the people he always plays with. Your best bet to becoming better at adjusting yourself to the play style of the FFA your in, is to play with as many different people as you can even if they are not as good individually as you are. Because there’s a good chance if you ever go to an MLG FFA event, not everyone is going to play the same.

Tip Four
Don’t Fool Yourself, I’ve been in many FFA games in the past that people will just say “oh i’m not trying”. Sometimes it is true whether the person’s eating or just not playing. If your trying don’t be embarrassed if your losing because your only doing harm to your FFA game, clouding your mentality of becoming better, because if something doesn’t go your way like you getting out BR’d you’ll just think “hey if i was trying I’d destroy that kid!” which will interrupt you trying to think of what you could have done better, also it will lead to a bigger downfall, when you play on LAN and don’t go as far as you planned that you were going to get.

Also, something that relates to this point is the “oh I’m not warmed up,” I’ve used this excuse for my first game that I play that game, plenty of times in the past BUT you have to understand if you use this excuse it will take you longer to “warm-up” because you have the mentality “oh my BR is not warmed up thats why that happened” Now when I warm-up I usually don’t think of it as my warm-up game, I just try the best I can if I don’t place top 4, **** happens. Don’t get mad over it or make excuses that you need to warm-up, because usually it’ll give you the mentality that you still need to warm-up which will make you play worse and worse as the day goes on. Also just because you lose to someone that you can almost always beat; congratulate him, don’t say “ I wasn’t warmed up”. That leads to the next point.

Tip Five
People can lose FFA’s…. just because you have beaten pros in the only FFA you have ever played with them doesn’t necessarily your better than them at FFA, so don’t let it get to your head, your a better FFA player than someone if you consistently place higher than them in many FFA’s and can adapt better to certain situations and playing styles, than they can. So just because you beat that certain Player in ONE FFA, doesn’t mean your better so don’t let it get to your head.

Tip Six
Reevaluate Your Style… We’ve heard this many times, that when you die, evaluate what you could have done to avoided that situation, and what could you have done better. Very few people actually do this, for example I used to have a bad habit of when i spawned at needles on The Pit I would Rush Rockets right away, which is really bad because 80% of the time you will get Sniped in the back of the head from the snipe tower if you are playing against good players. So I thought to myself, (whenever I spawn at BR or Needles I should wait til the Snipe is occupied before continuing my rush) Of course there are exceptions to this rule such as if there are only 4 or 5 Players in the match then I Rush regardless while chucking nades into Invis. hallway. So Evaluate your choices when you die and make sure your first moves are the smartest based on the map and amount of Players in the Game etc etc.

Tip Seven
Be unpredictable, yes FFA is adapting to other people’s playing styles, but being unpredictable helps tremendously, when people are trying to adapt to the way you play FFA, which always leaves them guessing giving you that extra edge on your opponents.

Tip Eight
One of the most important points is that you need to have Experience and have Good Mentality, and by experience I mean play FFA’s learn nade spots, learn little spots where you can spawn trap someone while your recovering your shield, For example, if I get a double kill in “Top Gold” on Guardian and have no shield, I know a I should be throwing grenades where the guys land that jump down from the “Blue Room” so that if they do I will take their shields and snap off a quick Headshot.

Having a good mentality will help you tremendously, because if you think your BR sucks it will suck…. If you think your melees are horrible they will be horrible. etc. Also, stop messing around with sensitivities stick to what your used to, stick to what you like, because not only does this mess with your game it also messes with your mentality whether or not you think your BR is good or bad. Anyways back to the point that if you think your melees are horrible, they will be horrible. I know some people (won’t name them) that whenever they get in a melee battle with me they always think they’re going to get out melee’d just because I’ve out melee’ed them OVER AND OVER again during previous FFA’s. Just because you get Out Br’d by so-and-so all the time don’t be upset, just evaluate what you could have done to out BR him, which leads back to the points back up Top.

Tip Nine
Watch VoD (video on demand @ mlgpro.com) to gain valuable experience by watching how Pros play and how they adapt to different playing styles.

Tip Ten
Don’t overplay it, playing too much FFA can cause harm to your FFA game, making you rush more, and not think. This has happened to me so I can relate to it. You may think it’s increasing your endurance but in reality, you’re hurting yourself in the long run. TAKE BREAKS (as in 1-2 day breaks if need be), breaks help your FFA game and mental aspects so that you are fresh and so you play smarter and don’t get frustrutated as much. Also take off your headset, it helps you not get as frustrated hearing annoying people in your ear. Either that or listen to some music if that calms you down. It’s all preference…

I hope these 10 tips help your FFA Game as much as they have mine over the years.

p.s. If these FFA Tips help your game like they have many others, feel free to make a donation via the PayPal down towards the bottom right. Thanks and keep on Rippin! =D

Halo 3 HaloCharts Score Tips…

Posted by RippinHeads on June 23, 2011

Hey Everyone!

I know a lot of you guys are still playing Halo 3 and trying to raise your HaloCharts Score over @ HaloCharts.com, so with that in mind I put together this little blog for you. :)

Now that I am back to playing Ranked Halo 3 again I am getting slammed with questions like this a lot… “How do I get my HCS to go up fast like you do Rippin? Holy #%*^!!”

So here you go!!!…

I Do Not Know the formula for HCS, I just play the game the way I do because I enjoy it. What does that mean you ask?

Well for those of you who have ever played the Survival Game Mode on Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six or Survival on other FPS games, you are already a few steps ahead…

In Slayer games I basically play as if every life is my last. You will see proof of this in my HaloCharts Medal Chest and on some of HC’s longest spree leaderboards… Frenzy, Running Riot and Rampage. I just love going on long sprees because it adds a certain excitement/rush to the game that motivates me to keep playing. I think the most satisfying thing I have heard in game(other than mmm brains) would be the announcer saying “Untouchable… Perfection!”… nothing like it. =)

This also accounts for my High Ranked K/D & K/D Spread.

Here is a list of what I think weighs the most when it comes to HCS.(no specific order of importance)

1. Sniper Headshots/Sniper Sprees/Sharpshooters*
2. High K/D Ratio
3. KPG(kills per game)
4. Top Medal’s(high multi kills/sprees)
5. Large K/D Spreads
6. Skill level 50 but only your 1st one

IMO… I think that LW’s is the best for #’s 3,4 mainly because in FFA you get all the kills(no teamates stealing them haha) plus when it comes to multi kills & big sprees it’s also easier for the same reason.

Snipers is also a great playlists to get huge HCS, primarily because you get a sniper medal for every headshot and from the research I’ve done you get a decent HCS bump for every one.

Well there you have it, I have spilled my beans. lol

Note: LW’s is not for everyone… FFA just happens to be my all time favorite gametype!

Feel free to comment and ask questions, hope to see you in Matchmaking soon! :D
