FFA Objective’s

Posted by RippinHeads on December 15, 2008

Well I had someone over @ HaloCharts.com that really enjoyed my FFA Tips but was wondering if there was anything I could do to help them in Lone Wolves Objective Games.

Honestly when it comes to Oddball and King of the Hill there are a lot of different techniques. Here are just a few of mine.

If you are going after the guy with the ball and there are 3-4 other red dots on your radar make sure you let them rush the ball guy first. They will either kill him or at least take his shield down to make it easier for you to get the ball. After you get the Oddball its all about where to take it so you can defend yourself, like a bubble/regenerator/shield door. I must say that I Love Oddball Games. I am currently ranked #1 in the World with “Ranked Oddball Kills”. Here is an “Oddball Game” on Blackout that lasted a whopping 58 Seconds! I had 5 Oddball kills FTW!

KOTH is all about not being seen while in the hill and/or having a power weapon ready while you are in there… i.e. shotty/mauler/rockets. I always rush Inviz or Overshield in KOTH as well. You will find several KOTH games in my Fileshare with Huge Medals. Killtac’s/Killamanjaros etc etc. Good Stuff! I always enjoy a good KOTH Game especially if I am packing a good power weapon. I’m currently #11 in the World with 5 Ranked “Hail to the King” Medals.

I hope those couple tips help. =)

Sometimes when I get frustrated with an Oddball or KOTH Game I might step back and Rip some Heads as captured below in a nice screenshot.

The Bryan Simon Show

Posted by RippinHeads on December 12, 2008

Ladies and Gentlemen!

I present “The Bryan Simon Show”. I watched this Live while Bryan was playing and I must say that I felt like I was at a real live Concert. It was so cool to just kick back with a cold one(soda) in hand and chat with friends while watching this.

I watched Bryan’s show before I got online to play last night and Man I was in a Good mood. I have to say Brayn Simon FTW! He must have mentioned RippinHeads 5 times during his performance. Im feeling like a Celebrity more and more every day. lol

I cannot even name all of the Bungie.net/HaloCharts/Hawty McBloggy etc etc Members that were watching this show. It was Awesome to see so many friends and family come out for this event.

If any of anyone here gets to watch this please feel free to leave comments here and over @ Bungie.net in the “Official Concert Thread”.

Hope you enjoy it as much as i did. =)

p.s. I had to add this “Infection Game” to this Blog because it was the sickest Infection Game I have ever seen!

Have a Nice Weekend!

Double Trouble

Posted by RippinHeads on December 11, 2008

Double Trouble

As you all know I play a ton of FFA, anything from Lone Wolves / Rumble Pit / DLC FFA and occasionally Legendary Brawl when Shishka is nice enough to let us have it. Well a few nights ago I decided to take a little break from the FFA madness and play some Multi-Team with my buddy SpYda MuNkY.

SpYda MuNkY and I are currently ranked #1 and #2 on the “EXP since TU2” Leaderboard over @ HaloCharts.com. We managed to get our Rocket Race and Grifball General’s together and have even talked about going for our Multi-Team General’s together as well.

I wanted to share a few Multi-Team games that SpYdA MuNkY and I played the other night while we were on Fire! First we played a “Team Slayer” game on Epitaph. There were 2 other general’s in the game and we won by 12 kills.

The next game was a “King of the Hill” game on Epitaph. SpYdA had 40 kills and I cleaned up with 53 kills.

The last game I want to share was another “King of the Hill” game on Guardian. This was one of my favorite games of the night, SpYdA ended up with 35 kills and I had 61 FTW!

More DLC FFA tonight! =)

Ninja Skills

Posted by RippinHeads on December 10, 2008

Ok, so after playing several Sword games in DLC FFA the last few nights I figured that would share with everyone my thoughts/tips on “Swords” and maybe a few games that I enjoyed.

Unfortunately as everyone here knows, being good with the Energy Sword is sometimes based more on how good your connection is to the host of the game. For example, if you have a bad connection to the game a lot of times when you Sword lunge at someone you will hit them but sometimes lag right through them. Very annoying!

Now when it comes to true skill with the Sword and you have a good connection then things can be a whole different ball game. There are soo many strategies that players have with the Sword. Some prefer to use their “Ninja Skills” and camp and wait to pounce on people and some prefer to go balls out and sit in the middle of the map as if it were King of the Hill. Personally I like to do a little of both depending on connection and the map in which we are dueling on.

Another key factor in a Sword games is button layout on your controller and which buttons you use to make your kill. I am by nature a “default” player so I find myself using the “B” button more than any other. Some players use the “bumper jumper” layout which allows them to jump and still keep their thumb on the right toggle. Note: I have tried using this in a Swords game and it works very well. “No restrictions”

I am one of those Sword Ninja’s that will mix it up from time to time with the R trigger and the B button. If I am doing the King of the Hill method that I mentioned earlier you will find me out in the middle of the map (say on Guardian) mashing the B button for all its worth. Many times especially in DLC FFA players will rush out with their R trigger and bam you cancel them with the B button and then quickly hit B again to dash in for the kill while the other players arm is up over their head.

The only time I ever use the R trigger is if I know for a fact the other player has no idea that I am about to lunge at them. Meaning that I am either going to assassinate them or I am jumping over their head which is one of my favorite things to do.

So here are a few Sword games that I enjoyed from last night. The first game I must say one of the most Insane Sword games that I have ever been in. “Swords on Anvil” Here are the medals that I sliced up during this game… 4 Doubles, 3 Triples, 2 Overkills, 2 Killtaculars, 2 Killing Sprees, 1 Killing Frenzy, 2 Sword Sprees, 1 Killjoy, 3 Stickies, 1 Assassination, 21 Beat downs

Total Medals – 42

A few games later I got “Swords on Foundry” Here are the Medals from this game… 3 Doubles, 2 Triples, 1 Overkill, 1 Killtacular, 3 killing Sprees, 3 Sword Sprees, 4 Assassinations and 21 Beat downs

Total Medals – 38

I took this screenshot a few months back when I got matched up against “dirty sen0r” in a Swords game on Epitaph. He has Recon so I thought I would snap a shot after I killed him. I titled this one…

“Recon Unicorn” lol

200,000 Kills!!

Posted by RippinHeads on December 9, 2008

Well as of today I hit one of the biggest milestones ever. 200k Total Kills between Ranked and Social Play lists. I cannot believe that sometime in the very near future I will have over 1/4 million Halo 3 Kills. Unreal!

Ok, so I had a very crazy morning but I am back! First I wanted to make everyone aware that there is now a “Donate” button on the right side of the Home Page. I have added this option for 1 reason only… I had about 15-20 players over the weekend ask me if they could send me $$ or MS Points for helping them with there FFA game.

Most of these players read through my FFA Tips on Bungie.net or here @ rippinheads.com and noticed a big difference in their game almost immediately. Some players even made note that they had been rank locked at a specific skill level for months and after reading my Tips they actually leveled up. Great! =)

So now I would like to take this time to Thank Everyone who has messaged me about my FFA Tips helping them and also for being here to support me on my website. It is because friends/players like you guys who push me to the next level that I can continue playing the way I do and achieving my every Goal.

My current Goal is to reach a General in DLC FFA by Christmas. So far I have 125 exp just since this past weekend. After I reach that Goal I think I will go back to Lone Wolves and try to achieve the first 5 Star Lone Wolves Playlist General. Wish me Luck! Here is my current B.net Trophy Shot.

Note: I only had 1 bullet left in my Sniper Rifle when the Hammer guy lunged at me. There is a video clip of this in my fileshare that is a Must See!  =)

DLC FFA Weekend!

Posted by RippinHeads on December 8, 2008

Ok Guys, so I forgot just how much fun DLC FFA really is. Between BR Slayer, Oddball, Rocket’s and the random “Braaaains” here and there I had a blast this weekend. I thought I will list a link or two of each game type so that you could see just how much fun we are talking about!

The very first game I played in DLC FFA was “BR Slayer on Rat’s Nest” . I went 25-2 with a Running Riot FTW. Something about spawning with a BR in my hands that instantly gets my juices flowing. lol

A few games later I played “Slayer on Anvil” . I’m not sure why but I really love this map. Every power weapon you can think of rockets / laser / shotty / sniper / sword on a fairly small map = carnage. I think I went 25-3 that game with a Frenzy and 8 laser kills.

Here is a game of “Braaaains on Rat’s Nets” that I was super excited about which included a Running Riot, 2 Hells’ Janitor’s and 3 last man standing medal’s while going 33-2 with the k/d. lol It’s not often that you get to be human 3 times in one game and be the last man standing. Good times!

This is another Slayer on Anvil” game where I went 25-4. I wanted to point this game out because I was matched up against “Mr Raz0rII” who is a player that use to be #3 on the HCS Leaderboard over at HaloCharts.com. This was a close game.

I wanted to throw 1 Oddball game in here so I found this “Oddball on Blackout” game for your viewing pleasure. This game was a quick one but it included an Overkill with the Oddball. “Alas poor Yurick” haha

The last game that I am listing is “Rocket’s on Anvil” . I’m not sure why but I have been loving these rocket games. I die more than what I would in a Slayer game bit its still fun. I actually pulled off a Killing Frenzy in this game which I did not think was possible in a Rocket’s game.

I thought I would end with a screenshot that I currently use as my desktop on my Laptop. Something soothing for your Monday morning Blues. You might even recognize it. =)

Feel the Love on Friday!

Posted by RippinHeads on December 5, 2008

Hello Everyone!

Note: By request I have added a “Jump to Bottum” option for every page. It can be found right above the “Search Box” =)

Let me first say that this has been a very exciting and busy week for me. It started out by getting my 4th playlist General in Lone Wolves which was a real treat. I had 1 too many late nights trying to achieve it to say the least.

After that I found out that Bryan Simon’s New song “If I worked at Bungie for a Day” made it on the Main Blog @ Bungie.Net and that RippinHeads was mentioned in it. That was awesome! Even though Bryan does not work at Bungie I have added him on my Friends list now thanks to this. =)

Moving forward I started a “FFA Tips” thread over on Bungie.net in the H3 Forum’s. Of course you are going to say “Rippin I cannot believe you would do that, knowing that you will get flamed even if you are trying to be nice and helpful to the community”. Well, I did it anyway and I must say other than a few troll’s popping in, the thread is very healthy and has over 260 replies! “Feel the Love on Friday” =) I even got to play some DLC BTB last night with some of the players that posted in that thread. Pretty Cool!

I think now that I have a General in Lone Wolves and Rumble Pit that I will take a few weeks and get my last FFA General in DLC FFA for the full trifecta. After that I will be returning to Lone Wolves to try and pull off a 5 Star General in that play list.

I leave you with a screenshot from my first “RippinHeads” account when they only had 5 players in Lone Wolves. It was very difficult to get OverKills back in the day but I managed to snag this one on Construct. I found this on my laptop, the file was dated 10/10/2007. My armor was also steel back then, not poop brown. lol

Have a Great Weekend! =)

Bryan Simon FTW!

Posted by RippinHeads on December 4, 2008

Ok, so I am on my way home from work last night and one of my good friends calls me on my cell. He is laughing histerically and saying “Dude! you got mentioned in Bryan Simon’s New Song”. I was like yeah I know… didnt you read my blog about it on rippinheads.com? He said No, I am on Bungie’s Main Blog and Bryan’s Song is at the Top of the List! I was like No Way, thats Awesome! lol

Needless to say as soon as I got home I jumped on Bungie.net and sure enough, there is was. Very exciting to say the least. Here is a direct link to Bungie’s Blog about Bryan Simon’s New song “If I worked at Bungie for a day”.  Check it Out!

p.s. the Lyrics to the song can be found down below in my T.G.I.F. Blog. =)

Running Riot Hat Trick!

Posted by RippinHeads on December 3, 2008

Ok, so I’m not going to lie… Last Night started out absalutely horrible. I was getting exp. every game but my k/d was dropping and fast! After about 8 or 9 games I had enough of it. I was ready to throw my controller across the room and everything. lol

Well as you have read in my FFA Tips its always a good idea to take a break if your are not performing well or you are getting frustrated. I did just that… I got offline for about an hour and watched the New “House” with the Wifey. Good Stuff.

When I got back online I felt like a New Man. Not sure exactly what it was but anyway I was feeling pretty confident. The first couple games I was maintaining a steady 2.0 k/d ratio and placing top 2-3 every game. I started feeling much better about how the night was going to go. Then I got “Slayer BR’s on Epilouge” Not my favorite Map now a days but none the less it was BR’s! Here is the Game and a screenshot to go with it. I pulled off 15 straight BR kills for the Running Riot and finished the game in just over 5 minutes.

A few games later I got “Slayer on Snowbound”. I have always loved Snowbound wether its the Laser or Sniper in my hands or the occasional Shotgun Overkill. haha Anyway, Here is the Game and it was a lot like the one above. I got a Sweet Running Riot and the game ended in just over 5 minutes. Here is a screenshot from this game.

Last but not least I had 1 more Running Riot on Construct. As you will see in the Screenshot I barely got this Riot. I got a Triple kill to win the game and get the Riot just as I died. Crazy! Here is the Game I think the best part of this game would have been the fact that when the 1st place player had 22 kills I only had 16 and was in 5th place. That is why I tell you to Never give up in My FFA Tips. I came back with a Killing Frenzy and a Running Riot FTW! Here is a screenshot of the Final Blow that won the game and added another Running Riot to my Ranked Medal Chest.

Well as you can see it pays to NEVER give up. I ended the Night on a Great Note and 3 Ranked Running Riot’s to show for it. That is why I titled this Blog Post “Running Riot Hat Trick”.

p.s. I also got my Brigadier General in Lone Wolves and I hope to get my General tomorrow. =)

Rocket Race FTW?

Posted by RippinHeads on December 2, 2008

Ok, so I was on the B.Net Forums this morning doing my daily browse and I found this Topic “Bringing Back Rocket Race”. I think I have seen thread likes this more than once and normally the OP is a Die Hard Rocket Racer who sits on the edge of his seat every Thursday waiting for the Shishka to tell him that RR is the Double Exp Play list for the Weekend.

I wanted to make note of this particular thread because it is missing a key option in the Poll. Here are the options that the OP gives the reader to choose from…

Poll: Bringing Back Rocket Race

1. Yes!
2. Yes! And I love Bungie!
3. Okay!
4. Alright we’ll DO IT!
5. Heck yeah! Let’s race!
6. I love Rocket Race!
7. I miss Rocket Race!
8. Pure 100% Fun that Rocket Race!

So my question is… Do you see anything missing from the options in the Poll? Like maybe something negative? Is it really a Poll when every option for voting is all about bringing RR back and not actually asking what the players really want?

Anyway, I’m not complaining I just thought that it was funny that there was No option like “I Hate RR let it Die” or “Please No More RR”. lol

Someone in the thread actually wrote this… “Put in a negative option” The OP responded with this… “That’s the point exactly; there is nothing negative about it. You’re smart!”

Now for the real reason I wanted to touch on the possibility of RR Return. I got my Rocket Race General in just 1 Double Exp weekend along with my Buddy “SpYda MoNkeY”. I think my reason behind getting a RR General was to prove to all the RR Pro’s that Anyone can be good at RR.

I had Never played RR before that weekend. SpYda and Rippin became RR Pro’s in just 4 days. We played ton’s of RR Pro’s who actually play in RR Leauges. The best part was hearing them after the game say “I didn’t think you guys played played RR.” I think our common response was… “We don’t… we’re just having some Fun!”

In closing, this would be my response to this thread… “Rocket Race is Great but does not deserve its own playlists, I vote we just leave it in the Double Exp Wknd rotation.”

How about a RR Overkill FTW! =)
