Update 2/4/2009…
I found out today from Firestream the Creator of HaloCharts that I have been reinstated to the #1 on HaloCharts. After discussing things they did not feel that it was fair for me to be removed from the Ranked Leaderboards when in fact the only thing that I had done wrong was go into a social playlist with some friends to get a medal that I did not have.
With this said I have decided to take a leave of absence from the Game. Trust me, this is something that I would rather not do but I feel that I must. I will still remain in the #1 spot on HaloCharts as I have a very large lead over the second place player.
Please don’t hate me for this and I promise I will return asap.
p.s. In the mean time please keep any and all comments/questions here within this blog and I will try to keep in touch as much as possible.

And when you say your going to get your stats reset, do you just mean on Halo Charts or on Halo3/Bungie.net itself?

Also, if you have been banned from HC, you should definitely get your stats reset, your page alone probably brings in a significant portion of the pages hits.

this is completely stupid i got banned from the leaderboards and i wasn’t even playing half the time and i didn’t even get anything out of it.
I’m guessing there is some sort of dirty laundry between you and the Halocharts admins that no one wants to air. Seeing how a scoial medal doesn’t seem to affect #1 HCS standing in the slightest, it seems like more of a personal move.
I know a lot of people seem to have some kind of axe to grind with you, and always point to the griffball boosting you did. Which was wrong and I think you’ve been pretty upfront about that for nearly a year now.
For the most part, your online fame/infamy comes from your Ranked 2.0 KD over thousand of games playing against 50s or near 50s in Lone Wolves. That is what got you your HCS, and that is legit. Wiping all that away over a boosted medal in social seems pretty rash.
It is what makes you stand out in the gaming world, and I guess if it were me, I’d keep it, regardless of what people want to whine about.
But then again, being the #1 HC general has somewhat come to define you. We all know you love to play, this might be a good chance to just play the game and have some more fun with it, rather than always having to prove yourself and being the focus of a lot of attention.
Whatever you end up doing, just be sure to let me know when you’re up for some team games with a bunch of retards driving warthogs off cliffs.

I am staying at HC personally, because of the community, but wtf? Whoever decided you had to get banned WITHOUT WARNING needs to get it right. I wasn’t even playing when you got that mmm brains, and I still got banned… wow.
I’m not holding my breath that anything will change with HaloCharts decision that they have made. I was removed from the leaderboatds for getting the rare “Mmm Brains” medal in a social game with friend. Not cool…

Sorry to hear about what happened over the weekend. Just remember though that you were #1 and still are #1 to me along with many others. Your community contributions (FFA Tips, montages, etc) have inspired me to become a better player. I know I’ll never be quite as good as you but I can take baby steps. Never forget the friends you have made and the fun times you have had on your journey. As much hate as there is for you there is an equal amount of love.

I would like to personally apologize to RippinHeads and the others involved in the recent leaderboard bans. After much thought, the punishment for the boosted games in question is too much. I’m not saying I condone any form of cheating in the game, social or ranked, but I am saying that the punishment given is too harsh in this case.
RippinHeads will retain a social leaderboard ban. The others in the game will have their bans lifted and be given a warning about future boosting. HaloCharts will still take a stronger approach to boosters on the leaderboards also. We are not reverting to our prior stance and a detailed explanation of our boosting/cheating position will be posted soon.

It’s old news now that you’re back on the leaderboards, and I’m a bit late posting here, but I am happy to see it,
Firestream, as I’ve known from the beginning, is a thoughtful and gracious owner/admin at HC. I think his decision to reinstate you is proof positive of that.
Of course, “a detailed explanation” of HC’s policy on boosting/cheating will be posted soon, as Firestream says. This, too, is a wise move, as it appears there is some confusion among players as to just what constitutes boosting/cheating.
As you know, Rip, there have been those who’ve been less than kind to you for a long time, since long before the recent events. And attacks will likely be forthcoming in some way, shape, form or fashion.
I, for one (and I’m certain there are others), will provide you with moral support at HC, and will defend you if need be. Not boasting about it, but I can hold my own in a war of words, and without using the attacker’s tactics of foul or abusive language, and will not stand by and allow someone to flagrantly abuse you under my notice.
Likewise, neither will the mods at HC. I am not a mod there, and have not discussed this matter with them, but I’ve been around HC long enough to see that Firestream and the mods will deal prudently with all who carry themselves badly at HC. And this is ultimately what sets the site apart from most.

I do have a question about playing lone wolves, did you play different when you were trying to get your 50 in LW then you do now trying to keep a high k/d ratio? im sure you would have played more agressive trying to rank up right?
You are correct thunderhawk, when I first made this RippinHeads account I went ALL OUT to get my 50 in Lone Wolves in just 36 hours which also included all of the FFA Achievements. More recently it was more about maintaing k/d and just having fun being that I didn’t really EXP. lol

You Save video of all you did special like perfection on ghost town ( DLC FFA ) but, what about your ranked killionnaire ?
That ranked Killionaire could have come in a few different ways. Probably one of the easiest and most legit ways would have been during Ranked Living Dead a few months back. When you are the Last man Standing and 12 zombies are rushing you at once and you are mowing them down with a Turret or Shotgun, it can be obtained that way. I wish I would have played that weekend, but I wasn’t into the Infection playlist like I was last week when it was Social.
I’ve also seen people get the Ranked Killionaire in Rank Lone Wolves Swords.
No doubt Rippin’s Rank Killionaire is legit though; most Ranked stats are.

How are you gonna reset your stats Rippin? the only way i can think of is if you by microsoft points and change your RippinHeads GT to something else and make a new account and call that RippinHeads. we’ll don’t misspell anything.
DJ those Grifball games where I got all those was a long time ago and the only reason they happened is because I was taking out anger to the fact my first RippinHeads account got hacked and I had 4800 EXP at the time and would have been the first Legit Halo 3 5 Star Gen. It was a a sad time and mistake to boost but I did and have admitted my mistakes.

Rippin i have another question, we’ve talked before about rumble pit being good pratice for lone wolves, well then it was 8 player LW and 6 player RP, now that RP is 8 and LW is 6 do you think rumble pit would be even better pratice because it makes you be on your toes more and when you go back to LW its less crazy?
Yes I believe RP is the best practice for LWs. Also now that LWs is back to 6 players it will based more on individual skill rather than just how many nades you are carrying. Can’t wait to get back in there and Rip some Heads! =]

I miss 8 players! haha nades was how i did it. I’m a 44 in lone wolves and cannot get to 45…even if i win twice in a row I do not rank up and then I end up coming in 6th…
So when do you think you are going to come back?
Yeah LWs is a real bear to level up in. It once took me 25 straight 1st and 2nd be place finishes to go from a 49 to a 50 and I was even beating other level 50s along the way. Pretty Crazy!
Anyway, I have been enjoying this time off and if all goes well I should be back on Halo in a month or 2.

Hey, rippin enjoying your time off? lol….anyways I’m so happy they put LWs back to 6 players instead of 8, cuz i quit playing when they had 8…but i feel it shows more skill….im currently at a 45 in LWs only took me a day n a half to get there…now is where the fun starts…I’ve been playing very agressive lately, like i don’t hold a spot like i normally do…i go around looking to steal kills and wonder places…one match the other day i was in 6th place and i was getting assists like crazy and i was getting so mad and about to throw the controller, but then i remembered what u said just take a deep breath and keep tryin cuz you can still win and i can back to get 2nd went on a frenzy! =)….but anyways i’m pushing to get my 3rd 50 in LWs, going to be tough. Do you think i should still play as aggressive since the skill of the other players are up, or go back to the way i was patient and hold certain areas…cuz i really want that 50 in LWs its bragging rights…well let me kno, it would be helpful lol
When Im going for a 50 in LWs(I have gotten 4 50′s in LWs so far) I normally set my k/d aside and just go Balls Out FTW! My record for quickest LWs 50 is 36 hours and 86 games played!

hey rippin, i’ve been playing LWs and doing very well always going 10+ each match and always getting 1st or 2nd…but its SLLLOOOWWWW at leveling up…any idea of why this is happening? like i could win 7 in a row and smash everybody…but the next match i get 2nd and i go up 3 levels lol…im not getting why its doing this…oh well i was j/w im at a 39 right now in LWs…hope you return soon, so i can hopefully get matched up against u =)

Hey RH, I had an idea and was wondering what you thought of it. what about filming your hands as you play and show a split screen of the two. That would be cool for us non-50s.
Even better, I would personally love to see a full run down of how EXACTLY you hold your controller, while filmed, and talk about your theories behind each finger movement. And how exactly you envision the pressures and weight of the controller in your hand.
I’m struggling with finding the perfect controller gripping method and think a full rundown would be awesome for analytical guys like me.
I keep hearing to make sure my grip is comfortable but that doesn’t do it for me. I would like to know how YOU hold and operate the controller.
Also, maybe throw in some of your reasons as to what makes a 50 different from a 40/45, specifically controller and hand related.
A RippinHeads video tips section would rock!

YO RIPPIN, hows everything man? I wanted your opinion on something. What do you think about paying for lessons from pros? I was thinking of polishing my game up a bit and seeing what they would teach…they charge like 30 and hour tho, but i was wondering if you thought it was worth it? Cuz i don’t want to take the risk of it being dumb and them teaching me something i already kno, you kno what i mean whats your thoughts?…i was going to either get a lesson or 2 from either walshy or elamitewarrior, what do you think?….And i’ve been play team snipes going for my 3rd 50 in that…and then finishing up my LWs….well take it easy bro let me kno…=)

Lessons are up to you SuPa. Personally I would rather just watch videos of Pro Players to learn tactics. Now if you are refering to FFA it’s all about adapting to the Playing styles of your competition. Sometimes I will watch LWs games that I play against good players and absorb some of their tactics and mold them to my liking.
So I guess to directly answer your question… No I would not pay for lessons unless you plan on forming a Team and going Pro. Good Luck either way.

I have kind of a stupid question but how does a FFA player play team slayer? My friends and i are hooked on mythic right now but i really want to pratice my FFA game,

Hey Rippin, I hit 46 in LW not too long ago and I have been placing in top 3 almost every game and it seems to be taking me a while to rank up. Based off your experience in LW how many 1st place games does it take to level up after 46?

I do the same exact thing, if i face someone thats good ill go to film and study some of their tactics. I’d like to get lessons from Walshy because he is awsome with strategy’s, and id like to pick his brain a little on certain situations…but i doubt ill pay anyone cuz every1 has a different playing style, and mine is just fine…id just like to pick walshys brain a lil. i’d ask you but your always busy. And i want to find a team and go to a few events to see how it is, i think i could go pro, but your only as good as your teammates are….well rippin can’t wait to see this new account …and hit me up when your back “officially” take care and thanks =)

I found out Rippinhead’s new gamertag, but I won’t say who it is.
Anyway, he’s a 47 right now. Wow, I’m a 45 so he is winning most of his games.

I know ive asked before and you say rumble pit is the best pratice. Do you think 6 players is easy compared to 8? I ask because im just wondering if rumble pit is even better pratice now that its 8 then you go back to LW and its toned down a notch with 6.

Sorry thunder, I missed that one somehow. Honestly I have been playing way more aggressive on my new account because I am trying to keep an 80% win ratio in LWs. Even though I was winning more games it still took a little over 100 to get my 50 again.
I still think that Rumble Pit is the best place to warmup for LWs. Nothing like going in to LWs Match against decent players when your BR is cold. The only deference between 6-8 players is that you don’t get spawned killed as much with 6. lol. Hope this helped a bit.

cool thanks rippin, so when you say more agressive are you running though the whole map quite a bit or are you just floating a larger area? or more so just running the sides of the map?
I will check it out shortly sheep and thunder I’m using whole map and running over anyone in the way with my BR. =]

So ive taken a break from LW until this weekend and i played about 20 games and it crazy lol, i don’t understand how i can come in first like 3 games in a row, then get dominated a few games then finish in the middle of the group then i start to dominate haha seems like its so back and forth it drives me nuts, do you see this much?

I have not decided what I am going to do yet hawk. For now I’m just enjoying some time to myself. =] Its been 48 days since I last played MM on RippinHeads and crazy as it seems I’m still almost 3000 HCS ahead of 2nd place on HaloCharts. Pretty Cool!

I have another Rumble Pit question, it seems like you only get BR starts on cold storage and foundry and stand off, do you think playing guardian with AR starts really helps your lone wolves much? Or do you think as a whole it just makes you a better FFA player?
Honestly hawk I take every game… BR start or not just as serious. I look at every game as practice and I try to learn/pickup techniques from other players and mold them into my liking.
I have played so many FFA games at this point that I can pretty much adapt to anyones style/game play. I really think that is the #1 most useful Tip that I can give. It’s not always about having the best BR in the game that makes you win although it helps. Sometimes it’s just about adapting and being able to effectively use every weapon in the game.
Example- I played a game on High Ground the other night against a player who’s tag started with MLG and he was a General. He could not adapt to the map/players and ended up going 6-22 with last place. I took 1st going 25-4 just because I controlled the Snipe and Beach. He was most killed player of about 9 times.

So in your opinon play BR on standoff in rumble pit even though thats not a game type in lone wolves will help your lone wolves skill?
Yep, I think Standoff may get mixed into LWs at some point anyway plus it’s in Legendary Brawl.

I just ment in general not standoff in paticluar but just playing a FFA game thats either ar/br start in rumble pit thats not in LW like cold storage or anything, actually helping your kills on a map like the pit or guardian BR start thats not in rumble pit
My bad, I misunderstood the question. I think your best bet is to make a month account and just play LWs so that your getting practice on the maps you will be playing. Your call.

i actually plan to do that in the month or so lol, i was just wondering if RP would make you a better FFA player in general, mainly because i had a guy tell me i was wasting my time playing RP because the only BR starts you get aren’t in LW so its just a waste, and i didn’t agree because you are still getting FFA pratice, you still need to learn when to ingage and take cover and when to nade and stuff, but im not sure i guess lol
Well you can tell your friend that RippinHeads told you personally that he would not be where he is today(top of the leaderboards) if it wasn’t for all the practice in RP over the years. H2 & H3. =]

hey rippin, Don’t you hate it when u get 2nd or 3rd in a game and the 1st player bashes you and says he’s better even tho you would have a better K/D ratio than him? lol that happens to me a lot if i get 2nd or 3rd and go 15+ with only 5 deaths, and he gets first but died a lot more than me and only went 5+…i HATE it when ppl think, just because they beat you 1 game they think they are better than you, or call me a bad 50 lol…i just laugh cuz i had a better K/D spread, and still technically won the game also cuz i get EXP and sometimes a level up =]. I’m at a 45 right now, haven’t played it in a while getting my SWAT and snipers ranks up, almost in the 40s on both…and tips for those playlists?
rippin, can you give me some ideas on things to try on guardian? not sure why but thats my worse map, when i try s3 with snipe i get a kill or two until i get rushed, when i try top gold it doesn’t matter where i stand i get killed, bottem gold doesn’t get the traffic and when i roam i usually also go kill for kill which doesn’t help much
Yeah, Guardian can be a real pain in the balls especially if you get matched with good players who know how to run it. I actually got a Rampage first game of the night last night on Guardian. I basically float back n fourth from inviz to blue room staying top Gold the entire time letting my radar do all of the work. I try to keep the shotty or plasma rifle as my back up power weapon but mainly just throw nades at the players feet when come from inviz lift or jump up or down from the blue room.
Sometime I will also camp S2 with Hammer and Snipe across to gold hick is fun. =]. Hope that helps.

Yes, I have specific areas on every map where I can pretty much garuntee a frenzy from at least every other game. I have tried to perfect certain locations on every map. lol. 10 more frenzies just last night FTW. I can’t wait to show everyone this new account! It’s Insane!

I haven’t been here in a while & after the first couple of post I wish I should have. Because this is VERY late I’m pretty sure many won’t see this but I have to get this off my chest. First off Pure & wadjet are correct both Link & myself were not banned at all & I was very upset about this. I spoke to Pete & Hal trying to fix it & I don’t know if I had any take on it but just before the ban was lifted I PM FS in a long letter saying how wrong that I was not banned too.
